Ahmad-Abad Rugs
Hamadan Village Weaving with Honest Character
The Story
Ahmad-Abad is a village in the Hamadan weaving district of western Iran, part of the vast network of small communities that collectively produce the diverse range of rugs traded under the broad "Hamadan" designation. Like its neighboring villages, Ahmad-Abad produces hand-knotted rugs using the single-weft Sennah Baft technique on cotton foundations, with wool pile and simple geometric or medallion-based designs.
These are honest, unpretentious pieces that represent everyday Persian rug making at its most authentic—made for use, built to last, and carrying the warm, direct character of village craft.
