Moud & Dorokhsh Rugs

Moud and Dorokhsh rugs come from neighbouring weaving villages in the Birjand area of South Khorasan, in eastern Iran, and are close enough in character that the trade often names them together. Moud is known for fine knotting on a wool or part-silk pile, usually built around the Herati (Mahi) fish motif in restrained blues, ivories and soft reds.

Dorokhsh rugs come from the same Khorasan tradition and are prized for their elegant drawing and a subtle surface "glow" that feels alive as light moves across it. They often read calmer and more decorator-friendly than many tribal weavings, with balanced florals, garden imagery, and refined palettes.
