Semnan rugs originate from the city of Semnan in Semnan Province, east of Tehran in central Iran. These are urban-style Persian carpets — knotted with the asymmetrical (Persian) knot on cotton foundations, they feature finely executed compositions with a clean, composed aesthetic and dense, even knotting.
Central medallion designs predominate, rendered in a palette of classic reds and blues with attractive colour selections. The high-quality hand-spun wool and neat, consistent knotting produce a refined surface suited for formal and everyday spaces alike.
