Abadeh Rugs

Persian Heritage with Easy Graphic Presence

The Story

Abadeh rugs are beloved hand-knotted Persian carpets from Abadeh in Fars Province, shaped by the wider Qashqai tribal tradition. The most distinctive feature is the bold hexagonal centre medallion—a design unique to Abadeh that gives each rug its confident graphic identity. Sheep’s wool pile on cotton warp and weft provides a firm, dense, compact construction built for daily use.

The designs feel cheerful and direct: classic Persian motifs including Herati, Vase, and Zal-al-Sultan layouts rendered with confident color contrasts and a handmade spontaneity that keeps them from feeling overly formal. Similar in spirit to rugs from Shiraz, Abadeh pieces are more structured with the distinctive blue cotton weft characteristic of the region.

A great choice when you want Persian heritage with an easy, graphic presence—these hand-knotted rugs bring warmth and personality without demanding attention.
