Heriz Rugs

Bold Geometry. Lifetime Durability. Instant Presence.

The Story

Heriz rugs come from the village of Heris in northwest Iran, northeast of Tabriz, woven on the slopes of Mount Sabalan. They are among the most recognizable and beloved Persian rugs in the world: characterized by a large geometric lobed medallion at the center, bold angular arabesques filling the field, and a color palette of brick red, deep navy, warm ivory, and soft gold that has become iconic in interior design.

The style evolved when Tabriz merchants provided sample cartoons to local village weavers, who adapted the grand city designs in their own rustic, angular way—a fusion that created something entirely unique. The wool is dense and high in copper content from local water sources, making Heriz rugs exceptionally durable; antique examples from the 19th century are still in daily use today.

If you want presence, pattern, and a hand-knotted rug that will genuinely last a lifetime, Heriz is one of the world's great answers. Few hand-knotted rugs have this level of graphic power while remaining completely livable.
