Kerman Refinement at Its Finest

The Story

Ravar (often labeled "Lavar Kerman" in the trade) is a small town near Kerman that has produced some of the finest carpets in Persia since the Qajar period. These are highly collected pieces — many Ravar rugs carry a signature, either that of the weaver or the patron for whom it was woven, making them uniquely traceable heirlooms.

Designs are distinguished by intricate detail, pleasant coloration, and a refined balance of central medallion, elaborate borders, and corner elements. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Ravar/Lavar carpets became especially sought after in Europe and America for their exceptional quality.

When people speak about standout Kerman quality, Ravar is one of the first names mentioned. A refined choice for collectors who appreciate classical Persian elegance at its most assured.
