Meymeh

Meymeh rugs come from the small town of Meymeh, about 100 km north of Isfahan in central Iran. Part of the historic Josheghan weaving trio, they are knotted on cotton foundations with wool pile dyed using natural plant colours. Meymeh pieces occupy the fine quality tier within this group, with a Safavid-era weaving heritage dating back to the 16th century.

The distinctive hexagonal medallion designs combine floral and geometric elements in an unusual harmony — a pairing rarely seen in other Persian rug types. Rich burgundy red dominates, complemented by blue, green, and ivory. The drawing appears rustic at first glance but reveals surprising precision.

Measuring 213 × 140 cm, with an area of 2.98 m², crafted from Hand-spun Wool, Hand-knotted, this piece is a testament to masterful craftsmanship. The knot density of 321 000 - 380 000 / m² speaks to the extraordinary care woven into every inch.

Preserved in perfect condition, safavid heritage with a distinctive blend of floral and geometric — warm character with excellent everyday quality.
