Shahr-e Babak

Gonabad rugs come from the city of Gonabad in Razavi Khorasan Province, northeastern Iran. Part of the broader Khorasan weaving family, they are knotted with the asymmetrical (Persian) knot on cotton foundations, with designs rooted in the classic Khorasan tradition — Herati patterns, floral motifs, and medallion compositions in deep blues, reds, and ivory.

Gonabad pieces offer solid Khorasan quality with a practical, hardwearing build suited for everyday living. The designs feel classic and structurally balanced, with decorative clarity that reads well in both traditional and modern rooms.
