About This Lori-Pars
Where it comes from
The rug in front of you is a Lori-Pars, a tribal weaving from the nomadic herding communities of the Zagros mountains in Iran, measuring 302 x 248 cm (9'11" x 8'2"). Lori weavers work from memory rather than a drawn plan, and their rugs are usually known for bold, confident motifs set down with the sureness of a hand that has never needed a pattern to copy. This particular piece takes that same confidence and points it somewhere quieter.
What you see
The field is a warm camel brown, running edge to edge with no border to interrupt it. There is no motif, no medallion, nothing drawn at all. What holds the eye instead is a fine vertical striation through the yarn itself, lighter and darker strands sitting side by side so the plain colour never sits quite flat. It reads less as pattern than as the natural record of the wool.
How it was made
That striation comes directly from how the rug was made. The pile is hand-spun wool, and hand-spun yarn takes natural dye a little differently strand to strand, which is what produces the subtle streaking across an otherwise solid field. At 201,000 to 250,000 knots per square metre this is a solid, workmanlike density, the kind that gives a rug body rather than fine detail, and here that suits the design perfectly: there is no ornament to resolve, only colour and texture to carry. Choosing to leave a field this plain is, for a Lori weaver, its own kind of statement.

A rug this size sits naturally under a dining table or in front of a sofa group, and the camel tone is generous with a room: it warms a pale floor and holds its own quietly against darker furniture without ever competing for attention.
