About This Lori-Pars
Where it comes from
This is a Lori-Pars, a tribal weaving from the nomadic communities of Iran's Zagros mountains, made in the size 191 x 147 cm (6'3" x 4'10"). Rugs of this kind are knotted from memory on portable looms, without a drawn plan, and are usually loved for bold colour and confident, simplified motifs. This particular piece takes that same tradition and pares it right back.
What you see
The field is a heathered camel beige, softened by brownish striations running through the wool. Set into that plain ground are two nested rectangular outlines in a golden mustard-orange, one inside the other, forming a frame within a frame with no medallion and no repeating motif to fill the space between. A narrow pinkish-beige border, plain and unadorned, runs around the edge, holding the whole composition rather than adding to it. For a Lori piece the effect is unusually restrained, almost architectural in its quiet.
How it was made
That restraint sits on top of genuinely rustic construction. The wool is hand-spun rather than machine-spun, which is why the surface carries those fine vertical striations instead of a uniform flat colour, and why the pile feels thick yet soft underfoot. The knot count, at 91,000 to 127,000 per square metre, is modest next to a city workshop rug, and together with an 11mm pile it produces exactly the soft, low-to-medium surface you see here rather than a crisp, sharply drawn design. The two rectangles hold their line all the same, a plainer statement made with a weaver's tools rather than a draughtsman's.

A rug this calm and this size suits a bedroom or a quiet study rather than a hallway or a large dining set. The camel ground will warm a pale floor and sit easily against darker furniture, holding its own without competing for attention in either case.
