About This Ardabil
Ardabil rugs come from Ardabil Province in the far northwest of Iran, on the historic crossroads between Persia and the Caucasus. Woven on a cotton foundation with wool pile, they sit between tribal and city weaving, with a medium, even knotting and a palette that runs lighter than most northwest Persian rugs.
Designs favour clear geometry: diamond medallions, connected lozenges, and the Mahi (Herati) fish pattern, often framed by Caucasian-influenced borders. The fresh, graphic colours let Ardabil rugs sit comfortably in both traditional and modern interiors.
Measuring 293 × 197 cm, with an area of 5.77 m², crafted from Hand-spun Wool, Hand-knotted, this piece is a testament to masterful craftsmanship. The knot density of 201 000 - 250 000 / m² speaks to the extraordinary care woven into every inch.
