Sarough

Sarouk rugs originate from the village of Sarouk near Arak in Markazi Province, central-western Iran. Knotted with the asymmetrical (Persian) knot on a cotton foundation, they are beloved for their elaborate curvilinear florals and the unmistakable "classic Persian red" — a deep, warm palette of reds, navy blues, and ivory that has made Sarouk one of the most recognised Persian rug names worldwide.

Sarouk pieces use lanolin-rich highland wool that creates an exceptionally thick, velvety pile. Dense floral sprays and Shah Abbasi palmettes fill the field with controlled elegance. Antique pieces often feature distinctive blue weft threads — a reliable identifier for experienced collectors.

Measuring 85 × 67 cm, with an area of 0.57 m², crafted from Hand-spun Wool, Hand-knotted, this piece is a testament to masterful craftsmanship. The knot density of 201 000 - 250 000 / m² speaks to the extraordinary care woven into every inch.
