Moud

Moud rugs originate from the town of Moud near Birjand in South Khorasan Province, eastern Iran. Knotted with the asymmetrical (Persian) knot on a cotton foundation, they are characterised by the classic Herati (Mahi) pattern, small fish-like leaves interlaced with delicate floral details, rendered with exceptional precision on deep blue, burgundy, or ivory grounds.

Fine, lustrous wool is often accented with silk highlights that catch the light and lend a subtle sheen to the surface. Some Moud pieces feature the distinctive Persian garden (Kheshti) pattern, small rectangular panels arranged in a grid. Dense knotting ensures clarity of design and long-lasting durability.

Measuring 298 × 246 cm, with an area of 7.33 m², crafted from Hand-spun Wool, Hand-knotted, this piece is a testament to masterful craftsmanship. The knot density of 321 000 - 380 000 / m² speaks to the extraordinary care woven into every inch.
