Where it comes from
This is a Lori-Pars, a tribal and nomadic weaving from the Zagros mountains of Iran, measuring 182 x 148 cm (6'0" x 4'10"). Rugs of this kind are usually loved for bold, simplified motifs knotted straight from memory, with no drawn plan to follow. Here that boldness has been turned down to something quieter: a design built almost entirely from calm, concentric geometry.
What you see
The field is a warm, sandy cream, and across it run a series of square frames set one inside the other, radiating inward like a target with no medallion at its centre. The bands themselves are a soft taupe-brown, some warming toward camel and gold, and they vary in width as they step in from a relatively narrow outer border toward the middle. Look closely and the frame lines are not quite straight; they carry a slight, hand-drawn wobble, so a pattern that reads as modern from across the room reveals itself, up close, as entirely hand-made.
How it was made
That combination comes directly from how the rug was built. The wool was hand-spun before it was dyed and knotted, which is why the yarn thickness varies slightly and the darker bands carry that fine, irregular flecking rather than a flat, even colour. Working from memory on a portable loom, without a cartoon to trace, is also why the square frames drift rather than sit perfectly true — an irregularity that belongs to the hand that made it, not a fault in it. At 201,000 to 250,000 knots per square metre and an 11 mm pile, the weave is dense enough to hold its geometry firmly while still keeping the soft, springy hand that hand-spun wool gives a rug.

A piece this size suits a bedroom floor or a quieter seating corner rather than a heavy-traffic room, and it earns that place well. The cream field lifts a room with little natural light, while the taupe and camel bands keep it from ever feeling stark.
